Those of us who live in Michigan Avenue hi-rises appreciate the finer things in life: beautiful objets d’art, luxurious furnishings, beautiful people, beautiful food (only looked upon then discarded, never eaten), and most of all—beautiful parties. When the new Michigan Avenue magazine hits the streets we gather and celebrate. On Wednesday night, such a gather took place at Epic for the latest edition—I was invited and would have been there but I was with my work people, lending them some of the copious reserves of class I am so burdended with and making them feel okay about drinking to excess. This month’s Michigan Avenue features Polish-American supermodel Joanna Krupa, a Chicagoan who has graced the cover of Playboy and done Dancing with the Stars—perhaps, some say, the sexiest female to ever set foot on Michigan Avenue. No one is arguing over here.

Moshpix: Chicago native Joanna Krupa was feeling the hometown love on Wednesday, making an appearance at Epic restaurant for the release party for the April issue of Michigan Avenue Magazine. Krupa's resume also includes being named the Sexiest Swimsuit Model in the World, appearing twice in Playboy, and shaking it up during season 9 of "Dancing with the Stars."

Macy’s of Tyson’s Corner Galleria, along with Capitol File Magazine hosted the first of a special summer series, featuring top designers. This Saturday’s guest designer was the effortlessly gorgeous and very gracious Rachel Roy, who was unveiling her feminine, yet edgy diffusion brand; RACHEL by Rachel Roy 2010 Spring Collection.
Fans, fashion buffs, fashion bloggers, onlookers, etc graced the place as live mannequins showcased her line and exotically striking servers delivered tasty appetizers. Rachel was joined by her all too adorable daughter Ava, who sat patiently by her mother’s side sipping fruit juice from a wine glass and posing sweetly when prompted to take pictures.
Rachel’s presence was such a mysterious and glamorous one, but engaging and inviting all at the same time. One fan even spoke of feeling as if she were speaking with a longtime and dear friend.
The long line that seemed to move at a snail’s pace made her attentive and personable response to each person who approached her quite evident. Ultimately, Rachel Roy was a jewel and a pleasure to meet. Look forward to the launch of her stand alone stores in the near future, as this accomplished designer and trailblazer is definitely one to keep on your fashion radar.
