The Bears' new quarterback is not the most stylish guy in the world.
It's not as though he's poorly dressed. His blue blazer and orange floral tie look at his introductory Chicago press conference was exactly how you'd expect a Vandy alum to dress --- the tie, especially, was impressive.
But Cutler's also sort of a frumpy guy. He doesn't give off the impression that he much cares what he looks like. Which is why his cover shoot for this month's Michigan Avenue Magazine is so impressive. Cutler doesn't just look like a Southern boy. He could pass for the most stylish Chicago gent you've ever met.
I mean, check out the photos. Cutler could be a Polo model. His hair isn't in that unkempt bangs thing anymore; he's working with a full-on greased-up side part that would make Don Draper proud. His sunglasses are probably a little too much, but he looks, as Deadspin says, like he just finished playing touch football in the Hamptons. We're baffled.
This is not a Jay Cutler we've seen before, and like most quarterbacks taken out of their element for photo shoots, we imagine it's not one we'll see every Sunday. But hey, all Tom Brady needed was a few photos with goats before he bagged an impressive wardrobe and his first supermodel. Oh, and a few Super Bowls. Those help, too.
