hosted Michigan Avenue’s holiday party at Manor Tuesday night and The Boots Girls got a chance sit down with the Chicago native. Even though it was snowing hardcore that night - the party was hot and packed!
BG: Tell me about your new album. How is different than previous albums of yours?
L: “It’s called Theater of the Mind, so it’s diifferent because everything is themed after the movies and television. So, when you listen to it, it’s more of a presentation than it is just a regular audio album. I pulled favorites from Chris Rock, Spike Lee, Floyd Mayweather — people you would never even think would be on a CD are on there just to give it that whole television and movie theme.”
BG: Who has been your favorite artist to collaborate with?
L: “Probably Snoop Dogg or Missy just because of how creative they are. I really enjoy that.”
BG: And you’ve been pursuing acting. What movies do you have coming up?
L: “There is one more movie coming out as of now. It’s called Game with Gerard Butler you know he’s the star of it — so there you have it.”
BG: What actor have you learned the most from?
L: “Probably since I worked with Terrence Howard twice, I would have to say him. He has given me a lot of good advice on stuff.”
BG: I hear you were trying to go on tour with T.I.?
L: “That was something we were trying to work out, but I don’t think our schedules will work because I’m shooting movies and he is shooting movies. Maybe one day.”
BG: You were born in Champaign, IL. What’s your favorite thing or place about Chicago?
L: “I wouldn’t say there is one favorite place, but I love all the restaurants, just how many of them there are, just like the versatility in Chicago. I just love it, especially in the summertime. The Taste of Chicago is one of my favorite things. I’m going to have to put on a disguise and go, because I havent been able to literally walk through there in eight years… so one day. I’m going to figure something out — get a Michael Jackson mask.”
