Those of us who live in Michigan Avenue hi-rises appreciate the finer things in life: beautiful objets d’art, luxurious furnishings, beautiful people, beautiful food (only looked upon then discarded, never eaten), and most of all—beautiful parties. When the new Michigan Avenue magazine hits the streets we gather and celebrate. On Wednesday night, such a gather took place at Epic for the latest edition—I was invited and would have been there but I was with my work people, lending them some of the copious reserves of class I am so burdended with and making them feel okay about drinking to excess. This month’s Michigan Avenue features Polish-American supermodel Joanna Krupa, a Chicagoan who has graced the cover of Playboy and done Dancing with the Stars—perhaps, some say, the sexiest female to ever set foot on Michigan Avenue. No one is arguing over here.

Moshpix: Chicago native Joanna Krupa was feeling the hometown love on Wednesday, making an appearance at Epic restaurant for the release party for the April issue of Michigan Avenue Magazine. Krupa's resume also includes being named the Sexiest Swimsuit Model in the World, appearing twice in Playboy, and shaking it up during season 9 of "Dancing with the Stars."

Great Valentine’s Day Hotel Deals
FOX Chicago News
Whether you plan to spend time with your sweetie this Valentine's Day or party with your single friends, we've got something for everyone.
Susanna Homan with Michigan Avenue Magazine joins us with some great Valentine's Day hotel deals.
Macy’s of Tyson’s Corner Galleria, along with Capitol File Magazine hosted the first of a special summer series, featuring top designers. This Saturday’s guest designer was the effortlessly gorgeous and very gracious Rachel Roy, who was unveiling her feminine, yet edgy diffusion brand; RACHEL by Rachel Roy 2010 Spring Collection.
Fans, fashion buffs, fashion bloggers, onlookers, etc graced the place as live mannequins showcased her line and exotically striking servers delivered tasty appetizers. Rachel was joined by her all too adorable daughter Ava, who sat patiently by her mother’s side sipping fruit juice from a wine glass and posing sweetly when prompted to take pictures.
Rachel’s presence was such a mysterious and glamorous one, but engaging and inviting all at the same time. One fan even spoke of feeling as if she were speaking with a longtime and dear friend.
The long line that seemed to move at a snail’s pace made her attentive and personable response to each person who approached her quite evident. Ultimately, Rachel Roy was a jewel and a pleasure to meet. Look forward to the launch of her stand alone stores in the near future, as this accomplished designer and trailblazer is definitely one to keep on your fashion radar.
Joanna Krupa celebrated her Michigan Avenue magazine cover at Epic restaurant on Wednesday.
You would think supermodel Joanna Krupa would want a break from reality TV.
In just the last year, Krupa teamed up with Terrell Owens on "Superstars" (you probably saw her snap at the arrogant NFL star in promos for the show) and then finished fourth on last season's "Dancing with the Stars" ("If it was based on dancing, I should have been the runner-up," she said).
But Krupa, a Glenbard East alum, is now looking to join the likes of Kathy Griffin, Denise Richards and Kendra Wilkinson by starring in her own show.
Krupa said she already has a producer lined up and has been actively shooting for the show, but she still doesn't know where or when it will air.
"It's a show about my life and family," said Krupa at an event celebrating her Michigan Avenue magazine cover at Epic restaurant (112 W. Hubbard Street) on Wednesday. "I've mostly done modeling, so people don't get to see your personality and the type of person you are."
What reality show will it most be like?
"It'll be a lot different from most reality shows," Krupa responded. "It'll have substance. And in most reality shows, people are all about themselves. My whole thing is that I'm very passionate about charity. I really want to bring that out to people and do some good in my life."
Krupa is a PETA advocate and has posed in "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" ads, which is why she was so upset with actress Raquel Welch on Tuesday. After seeing Welch wearing a fur coat, Krupa called her "heartless" on Twitter.
"I was such a huge fan of her's," Krupa told me. "Maybe she's oblivious to how it's made and how these poor animals are skinned alive. I'd like to be positive and think she doesn't know about it, but when I saw the fur coat, it broke my heart."

The Bravo reality TV star answered questions at the private event, which was hosted by Michigan Avenue magazine Editor-in-Chief Susanna Negovan, and then signed copies of the book and posed for pictures.

The March issue of Michigan Avenue magazine will feature cover girl Joanna Krupa on -- where else? -- the cover. In the issue, Krupa, a Glenbard East alum, discusses her appearance on Dancing with the Stars and Superstars ("Superstars did an amazing editing job -- they made me out to be the bad girl.") and talks about her attempts to land another reality show.
"I’m working with a producer from Lambert Studios on a reality show with my sister, Marta," Krupa told Michigan Avenue. "There are so many reality shows, and people love to see the family drama, but they’re usually missing substance. If our show happens it would have that element but there’d be a brain and a heart."
The March issue of Michigan Avenue hits stands March 1.

The March issue of Michigan Avenue magazine floated on screens throughout the venue.
I had the Gunthorp Chicken torta (spicy and complex), and my friends had the Pepito torta (tender short rib smothered with Jack cheese and caramelized onion) and the Jamon torta (prosciutto and cheddar with a surprising hint of sweetness). We all shared some guacamole and chips to start and chocolate-studded churros to finish.Check out a few pics from both the Michigan Avenue party.

From Playboy bunny to comedian to parenting author, Jenny McCarthy’s career has taken some unusual twists and turns. Jenny’s new book, Healing and Preventing Autism, hits stores this month and the 36-year-old mom recently chatted to Michigan Avenue magazine about her 6-year-old son Evan, her relationship with Jim Carrey, and why she’ll never pose for Playboy again.
On handling her son Evan’s autism diagnosis: “I Googled autism and found a community called Generation Rescue, which is a parent-run organization of moms who have been teaching other moms about diet, nutrition, supplements, and detox, and they have done an amazing job of healing their kids. I thought, Well, do I follow this path of moms who are saying their kids got better, or do I follow the path of the medical community who say these kids can’t get better? So I followed these parents and I’m so glad I did, because within a year of doing diet and nutrition with Evan, he lost his autism diagnosis.”
On how Evan is today: “He is the most talkative, social six-year-old little boy, who loves to play with his friends.”
On her deal with God: “I kind of made a deal with God, saying, ‘If you help me and you show me how to heal Evan, I promise I will teach the world how I did it.’ The hard part is everyone from this day on will know Evan’s business. People say, ‘Don’t you get worried that you made him the poster child for autism?’ And I say, “He’s the poster child for hope.’”
